Bill Maher tries to both-sides George Santos
Seems appropriate Andy Sullivan was his guest, no?
I should have known better.
This attempt to "both sides" George Santos is why I haven't watched Maher's show for years: he's a suck-up and a phony. Watching him scramble and debase himself to get back in everybody's good graces after catching shit for making the perfectly reasonable post-911 observation that people who are willing to die to take a shot at their enemies cannot accurately be categorized as cowards, unlike people who kill from thousands of miles away with drones. His show got canceled and he spent years crawling on his belly debasing himself to regain his stature.
These days he's essentially the Joe Manchin of entertainment, though I hesitate making that observation because Manchin has actual principles, odious though they may be. Maher just wants to be a celebrity and is willing to do whatever it takes to stay one.
Some of his earlier stuff showed real promise, so it's particularly sad watching him pander. Have a barf bag handy for when he gets to the part where he says liberals are responsible for Santos too.
